Great Posts, and Gary thanks for all the insight you give. I really dig your drumming and I think the dvd at reading is great!! its the passion dammit!!!!!!!!! I guess all the posts have proved my point from when i started this thread!

I've heard of JVO. I remember reading about him in MD when I was a kid. He had the slick hair and looked kinda "square".

I'll have to see if I can get some of his stuff. I really dig Mel Lewis.

Not because you may read this, and just for the record, let me tell you that your song "if you were mine" (if my memory is correct) is my favorite Level 42 song.

I also think Keith Moon was a sort of mad genius with all this expression. Personally I thought he was great.

Check out "Stan Kenton Today" though, (1972 Decca records - on vinyl ... if you can find it!) John Von Ohlen. Just the same!! Only a big band drummer version.

This guy was PURE passion, power, intensity and madness and ... swing!!!! Fantastic to watch. Just went into spasms of ecstacy when he played!

For anyone who hasn't heard "Over There"(track 4)from Staring At the Sun,check it out! Absolutely brilliant playing. A 6/8 feel at break neck speed and played with such finesse. One of my favorites.

Hi Everybody, I like Simon Philips but certainly not with Toto (where he does a great job anyway).
Jeff Porcaro with Toto too hard to play after him.
I think the same way for Phil Gould and Gary Husband.
I'm a huge fan of his work as pianist, writer and of course drummer with Allan Holdsworth but for Level 42, I think that Phil is the Man !!!
His yellow Tama sound great !!!
Anyway, if somebody doesn't know Allan Holdsworth's "Wardenclyffe Tower", go check it out !!!
Gary is awesome on this record.
Hey Mr Husband do you know that the great Gene Lake is a big fan of you and tune his drum playing your "Dodgy Boat"'s intro ?
I think that it's a nice mark of respect and I like that !!!

Bennyandtheskin IMO came up with one of the most relevant definition of Gary's playing. "His playing reminds me of ocean waves during a storm."

Funny to read that Gary also mentions "storm" in this interview when he said: "what I can do is whip up a different kind of storm for the band" [img]wink.gif[/img]

By the way, thank you very very much to Gary Husband for having written "City Night" on the incredible Allan holdsworth's "Secret" who is for me a kind of "Bible ".
